Goodbye, January! | Monthly Recap & Travel Roundup
Here we are in February and I have to admit that I already miss January! I am all about new beginnings and fresh starts. As much as I loved the excitement that surrounded the holidays, I was so ready to be done with it all when it ended. And surprisingly, January is a very busy month behind the scenes at House of Lucky! Even though we switched back to our winter hours (and are only open Thursday-Sunday) we've been doing a lot to get prepped for the summer and for our busy season. Here are a few things that we've been focusing on that are getting us excited for things to come…GOALS
Every January I like to reevaluate my goals for the shop and where I would like the following year to take us. This year the girls came over one snowy Saturday; we sat by the fire with donuts and so much coffee and we got to WORK. The process included lots of budgeting, pinteresting, and sooooooo many to do lists (it's basically my favorite day of the year). We emerged with a clear plan & excited for the year ahead. There are some exciting changes in the works so stay tuned because we will be sure to update you as things get closer.
TRADE SHOW SEASON
Ok, so this is probably the most exciting part of owning a shop! January and February is when we do most of the buying for the upcoming seasons. I get so pumped for tradeshow season and while it is a lot of work it really gets my head in the game. While we have already placed Spring/Summer orders for a lot of the brands we carry, the majority of our orders happen on the trade show floor. We have already traveled to New York quite a few times in January and have a Vegas trip coming up this month, which has me looking forward to warmer weather and a few nights out. I’ve already started packing some of our new Spring arrivals (and put together a little roundup of my trade show travel must haves below)!
So there you have it, January! A fresh start & an exciting beginning to an amazing year ahead. Tell me: what was your favorite thing about last month? And what should we be looking for at the trade shows?
